Junior State

Overview

This squad is a progression from the Junior Development squad and is comprised of Junior swimmers who have demonstrated strength and technique consistency over distances 200m and above. Sessions involve technique work, racing skills and intensity work to prepare for competitions. All swimmers must be competing at club meets and targeted Swimming WA meets. These swimmers aim to compete at Junior State Championships.

Age range

Minimum age 9, dependent on ability level. Maximum age 13 years for Girls, 14 years for Boys. Swimmers in this squad nearing the maximum age are encouraged to think about their future swimming goals and pathways

Number of Sessions Available

5 x 1.5 hour sessions and 1 x 2 hour session per week

Option to attend Junior Friday Night Racing (FNR) each fortnight

Primary Focus

    • Efficiency and strength in all four strokes
    • Developing strong and consistent underwater work
    • Preparing athletes for targeted meets and Junior State Championships
